Disney reportedly developing live action remake of Frozen

Work is reportedly underway on a new live action adaptation of Disney’s Frozen.

The 2013 animated movie is set to be brought back to the screen in a new version.

According to the DisInsider, work on the remake is in “early development” with further details to be announced.

The original movie stars the voice talent of Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell alongside Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad and Santino Fontana. The movie made more than $1 billion at the box office and spawned the iconic song, Let It Go.

A sequel followed in 2019 while a Frozen stage adaptation opened in the West End in 2021 following its Broadway premiere in 2018.

Frozen will be the latest live-action adaptation from Disney following in the footsteps of Aladdin, The Lion King, and more recently The Little Mermaid.

Next year will see the release of a live action Snow White, starring Rachel Zegler in the title role with Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen.

Lilo & Stitch, Hercules, Bambi are also set for the live action treatment while earlier this year, Disney confirmed a live action remake of Moana, starring Dwayne Johnson in the role he voiced in the original animated film.

Meanwhile, a live action adaptation of Tangled as well as The Princess and the Frog are also said to be in the works.
